Menu Foods Income Food announced a safety recall on their dog and cat foods that were manufactured between December 3, 2006 and March 6, 2007. The pet food recall is limited to "cuts and gravy" pet food in cans and pouches that is manufactured at two of the Fund's U.S. facilities. Both products are manufactured and sold private label to other companies and contract manufactured for some of the top national brands.

USA Today reports says the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has confirmed 14 animal deaths that have resulted from consumption of contaminated pet foods.

The FDA's Center for Veterinary Medicine is currently investigating the cause of contamination manufactured in Ontario, Canada by Menu Foods. The pet food recall includes at least 91 brands and has pet owners around the world concerned for their pet's safety.

Officials believe wheat gluten, a substance used to thicken the gravy in the pet food may be the cause. Menu Foods had just recently switched suppliers for this ingredient in particular. There is a long list of recalled pet foods that may be contaminated. Menu Foods has an extensive list of the pet foods recalled on their website.
